A/B Testing Your Signup Forms

Written by Juan

You can now test two or more versions of a signup form against each other and see which one performs best, directly from the Popups table.

Setting up a test

  1. On the Popups table, open the row menu for the form you want to test and choose Add A/B test. This clones your form into "Variant A" and "Variant B" (you can add up to four variants total, labeled A–D).

  2. Edit each variant independently — different copy, design, reward, or even a different game or template. Settings that apply to every shopper regardless of which variant they land on (the display rules, the frequency settings, and whether the form has a hosted page) are shared across the whole test and edited once.

  3. Variants can be built and edited as drafts; you don't need to publish the original form first to start building a test.

  4. Publish the variants you want live. The Popups table shows the test as one parent row with an "A/B Tests" indicator; expand it to see each variant's status and numbers.

How visitors are split

Shoppers are split evenly across your published variants. Once a shopper is assigned a variant, they keep seeing that same variant on return visits (the assignment is sticky, stored in their browser).

Ending a test

From the row menu, choose End A/B test. You'll see each variant's visitors, signups, and revenue, plus a Recommended Winner TxtCart calculates from the results. Pick a winner (it doesn't need to have been published) to end the test: the other variants are archived, and any QR code pointed at the test is repointed to the winner.

Where this shows up elsewhere

  • On the Offers page, a discount used by a form that's part of a running test shows which variant it belongs to.

  • On the QR Codes page, a QR code aimed at a signup form that's part of a running test shows as pointed at the test rather than a single variant.
