Create a Campaign on TxtCart

Step-by-step guide to setting up and launching your first SMS/MMS marketing campaign.

Written by Roohul Shah

Campaigns allow you to schedule and send messages to a specific customer segment or your entire customer base. Campaigns differ from automations in that they contain one message, and you control when they are sent.

Why Send SMS Marketing Campaigns?

  • Connect with customers about new products, promotions, and important updates.

  • Send messages instantly or schedule them for the perfect moment.

  • Target specific customer groups with smart segmentation.

  • Create engaging messages that reflect your brand using emojis, images, and GIFs.

Creating Your Campaign:

  1. Select Campaigns in the side menu of your TxtCart Dashboard.

  2. Click + New Campaign.

  3. Enter the required details and select from the options.

  4. Check the message preview, message per recipient, and the estimated cost.

  5. Click Send Campaign.

  6. A pop-up message will appear to confirm.

  7. Click Send.

Enter Campaign Details:

On the Campaign Setup page, you can enter your campaign name, specify which audience to target, exclude audiences (optional), and craft your message.

  1. Name your campaign. Choose a descriptive name that helps you track and analyze results later.

  2. Choose your audience. Select which customer segment or list should receive your message from the dropdown menu. TxtCart shows you exactly how many customers you'll reach. (Note: Make sure to create a segment or upload your list before starting your campaign.)

  3. Craft your message. Write text that speaks to your audience. Use dynamic variables like Subscriber.FirstName or Shop.Domain, add a discount or link products.

  4. Add media (optional). Boost engagement by including an image or GIF. This works especially well for product promotions! (Note: Adding media converts your message to MMS format)

  5. Choose Timing. Select whether you want to send your campaign immediately or schedule it for later.

  6. Review & Perfect Your Campaign. Before sending, review your campaign to ensure everything looks perfect, as well as the message per recipient, and the estimated cost.

Key things to check on the review screen:

1. Message Length

  • SMS: Up to 160 characters for single messages. For longer texts, each part has 153 characters.

  • Using emojis? This reduces your limit to 67 characters (per segment).

  • MMS: Up to 1,600 characters when including images/GIFs.
Test Your Message. Send a test to your phone to see exactly how it will look and verify all links work.

2. Estimated Cost

  • Regions where your messages will be sent, including the message type, subscriber count, number of messages, and the amount

If you use the Send Immediately option during Quiet Hours, your campaigns will be automatically scheduled for the next day, once Quiet Hours are over. Learn more about Quiet Hours here.
